Azad kalasangham was formally started in the year 2004 But,before that some of the artistes from the group begined performing Irula dance all over india..The intention behind begining such an art gruop is beacuse of the need to preserve the traditional arts in the tribal area.This troupe normally conducts folk art program mes,espicially Iruladance.Pazhani Swami is the leader and president of the sangham.Sangham normally performs around 30 to 40 program mes in an year.The artistes in the group are not proffessionally trained in any kind of art forms.Some of them are working in some private offices and instituions. 

Azad Kalasangham made an audio C D which include the traditional sings of Attappadi tribal area.The Name of that C D is "Namukku Nadu Nalla Nadu".They had performed a drama to make aware of the waste management in the tribal area with the support of Block Panchayath.kalasangham regularly conducted a musical programme name,"urukoottam" in All India Radio:Trichur station.

Kalasangham Regularly performes in Kerala Govt's tourism festivals,Central Ministries National Tribal dance festivals.They had participated in the Tribal Festivals in Odisha,Mumbai,etc in connection with the folklore festivals.They performed Irula dance in a National Dance festival named  'Prakruthi' in Delhi in the year 2002.
