Irula Dance

Irula dance is a traditional dance form of the Irula community of Attappadi, a tribal hamlet in Kerala. This dance, related to Malleeswara, a local deity is generally performed during the harvest season. It is played by both men and women around a camp fire across the night.The group generally consists of 10-12 dancers. When the dance reaches the climax, all the members including children participate in it. Instruments like ‘Manporai’, ‘Dhavil’,‘Kogal’ and ‘Elathalam’ accompany the dance.
